Madagascar is an island nation of 30 million people located off the southeast coast of Africa. It is considered one of the most beautiful places in the world - and one of the most impoverished. Food insecurity is widespread, and poverty and economic desperation contribute to banditry and violence. The country’s political infrastructure is also unstable: a coup last year ousted the elected president and ushered in military rule.

Madagascar also has a remarkably young population. The median age is just 19 years old. By contrast, the median age in the United States is 40. And the support resources available to young people are extremely limited.

Good Loud Media is working with a Malagasy nonprofit to develop the first-ever crisis hotline for young people in Madagascar. This is an initiative that will directly save lives.

Everyone knows what it feels like to need someone to talk to. Soon, for young people in Madagascar, in their toughest moments, the answer to that need will be “yes.”
