Hey, everyone!
Hope your day is full of “praise-no-matter-what-might come”!
And “trust-no-matter-when-this-ends”!
And “joy-no-matter-where-you-are”!
So many questions!
But I’ve seen a bunch of brave kids go into their elementary schools…
marching forward…
backpacks behind…
masks and courage on their little faces!
How do you explain it?
The ones I know are trusting those who are wiser and bigger than they to know how to keep them safe.
And some I know are also trusting Him Who is wiser and bigger than they to know how to keep them safe!
The other morning I was reading in Matthew where Jesus’ friends asked Him who is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven…
(“I think I know!” each thought)
But the answer was surprising!
Jesus invited a little kid to come stand by Him. With His hand on the curls above the beaming face, He answered, “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven!”
The ones who rock the Kingdom of God are the ones who know how to be a kid in heart!
The word translated “change” is a Greek word that means “to turn and go the other way”
You’ve been getting bigger and taller so far? Go the other way! Grow smaller!
“How am I supposed to do that?”
Grab your backpack and your little mask and trust Him Who is wiser and bigger than you to know how to keep you safe!
I was reading of an elementary music teacher (this was “btc”…”Before the Corona) who had a lot of anxiety at school because she was going to go to the principal and ask to change the date for the big music program they had practiced…and scheduled!…for months.
It wasn’t gonna be an easy conversation.
With heart racing, she was rummaging thru a bunch of clutter on her desk and a slip of paper fell to the floor.
She picked it up and read, “When I am afraid I will trust in You”
She couldn’t believe it!!
Just the words she needed!!
She marched into that office with a heart full of…you know! Courage!… and their time wasn’t as nearly as bad as imagined.
A coupla days latter, a little girl asked her, “Ms Jacobs, have you seen a little piece of paper that says, ‘When I am afraid, I will trust in You’?”
“Yes, Rachel! Is it yours?”
With a little reflection, she added, “Are you alright, honey? Is there anything I can help you with?”
“Well, remember the other day when we had to take all those tests? I was afraid I wouldn’t pass and my mom put those words on that paper in my lunch box and it helped me. Then I lost it.”
Ms Jacobs shared how she had been afraid also. And had found from Rachel’s mom…and God’s Word!…just the help she needed!
So remember:
Trust Him Who is wiser and bigger than you to know how to keep you safe!
You can do it, kid!
