Hey, everyone!
Wow! We miss seeing everyone soooooo much!
We hope it won’t be long till we’re together again!
And as Andy Dufresne said (in the “Shawshank Redemption”)…
“Remember Red, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things!”
Well, actually the best of things would be to be together again praising the Lord!
I mean, it sure would be better than hoping we could…
Hey! Here’s some good news!!
(Actually, it’s from the weather desk!)
Today is gonna be awesome!
Lower 80’s and sunshine!
Wow!!
You’ll be able to do so many things!!
How ‘bout a softball game?
Wait.
Maybe not that.
If you have to take a six foot lead off the base to social distance from the guy playing first, you’d get thrown out.
Well, hey! Maybe you could have a bunch of friends over for a grill-out!
On second thought, probably not yet. You haven’t seen ‘em in so long, you’d want to give ‘em all a big hug! It’s not time for that. We’re still in the hug-free zone.
Plus, when I hear “a bunch”, that sounds like more than ten to me.
“Well, it just seems like we can’t do anything! Lord, please make this be over!!”
There you go! You CAN do that!!
“What? I can do what?!”
You can ask God to make this be over!
You can totally pray for that!!
I mean, God is in control of all of this…
and He is working out a plan that only He understands…
and one day we’ll hear stories of how His Kingdom advanced in amazing ways in this time…
and Ecclesiastes 7:14 says, “When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider this: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, no one can discover anything about their future.”
But…
We can go boldly to Him and ask for relief from this and the dawn of a new day!
You can talk to Him and ask for help in any little thing and every huge problem!
In the Lord’s prayer, Jesus said to pray for…
“our daily bread” (something to eat today) and…
“Your Kingdom come” (a new global regime and the conquering reign of Jesus over the world)!!
Once a troubled woman asked Pastor G. Campbell Morgan, “Dr Morgan, can I pray about little things that are bothering me as much as the big concerns?”
“Of course! Do you think any concern or problem is big to Him?”
In May 1940, almost a third of a million Allied forces in France were trapped by the sea on one side and the Nazi army and airplanes on the other. The German High Command ordered the annihilation of the entire British army. There was the possibility of losing everyone.
Churchill was preparing everyone for a catastrophe.
On Thursday May 23, King George VI called for the nation to devote an entire day to prayer for God to have mercy…
to go Sunday, May 26 into “churches, cathedrals and chapels and seek God”
On Monday, 840 boats and vessels, many of them private and fishing boats set across the channel to try to rescue up to 30,000 of the trapped troops, exposed to Hitler’s bombers and fighter planes.
But inexplicably…
There were huge storms across France, grounding the German Luftwaffe…
and inexplicably…
Hitler called a halt to the impending attack…
and also inexplicably…
during the next three days there was an unusual calm on the waters of the English Channel…
And during “the miracle at Dunkirk”, in 840 boats, 338,000 British troops were rescued!
What if millions of us…
in private…
and in sincerity…
and in humility…
and true dependency…
asked God to…
help us in ways that only He could…
to heal our world…
to bring a new season to us?
I don’t know about “millions”…
But we can!
And I’m gonna!
Join me!
